BELURAN: A puddle splash triggered an altercation between a local motorist and a Pakistani pedestrian in Kampung Kubambangan, Paitan, before the situation was brought under control by members of the public.
District police chief Supt Hasan Majid said an argument erupted after the driver inadvertently splashed roadside water onto the man, resulting in the local being allegedly punched.
Police received a report on the scuffle at 4.41am and are investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, while cautioning the public against disseminating inaccurate claims.
In a separate case, police arrested two men following the seizure of three packets containing approximately 100 grammes of suspected syabu at a lakeside shelter in Kampung Basai, Tagas-Tagas.
The suspects were picked up by the District Police Headquarters (IPD) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division after they were observed behaving suspiciously at the scene.
Both individuals were taken to the Beluran IPD narcotics office for further action, with police urging anyone with information on illicit drug activities to contact 089-511 222.
