Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal reached Halwara Airport on Wednesday and addressed the media here.
Mann said that the airport should be named as ‘Kartar Singh Sarabha Airport’, which has been his party’s long-pending demand. He said that a letter had already been sent to the higher authorities for the same.
Mann said that there are already two aviation clubs in Punjab where pilots are being trained.
Now, they are thinking of using the Sahnewal Airport, which is currently unused, as an aviation-training academy as well for the youth of Punjab.
Responding to queries about the demand for rescheduling the evening flight, he said the Air Force has fixed a 5 pm cut-off time, and if the flight lands before that, it would greatly benefit many passengers, particularly those from rural areas and the Moga region.
Mann said that if Sanjeev Arora had been here today, it would have been a different kind of happiness, because he had contributed a lot in taking this airport forward.
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal said that Bhagwant Mann and him, will be in Ludhiana for two days, and a series of meetings will be held during this period regarding the assembly elections.
Kejriwal claimed that the AAP government will break the last record as well, because there is an aura of optimism everywhere and AAP’s work for the state has earned laurels by the people. “This time, it’s not an anti-incumbency factor, rather, a pro-incumbency factor. The opposition has no agenda to fight for elections, except for abusing CM Mann,” said Kejriwal.
