The Punjab Government will convene the second meeting of the reconstituted Drugs, Cosmetics and Medical Devices State Advisory Committee on Thursday to deliberate on key issues of drug quality control, licensing procedures and revised manufacturing norms.
The meeting, to be chaired by Health and Family Welfare Principal Secretary Kumar Rahul, will take up the matter of curbing the supply of sub-standard drugs in the market, and ensuring the availability of quality pharmaceutical products to consumers.
The implementation of the revised Schedule M norms for allopathic drug manufacturers and Schedule T standards for ayurvedic manufacturers will also be discussed.
These norms aim to strengthen quality
assurance and manufacturing standards in the pharmaceutical sector.
Another agenda item pertains to a representation seeking reconsideration of the February 28, 2025, orders regarding drug formulations containing dicyclomine.
The committee will additionally review issues faced by stakeholders on the ONDLS portal in connection with grant and renewal of retail and wholesale allopathic drug licences.
Officials from the Food and Drugs Administration, including Assistant Commissioners (Drugs), are expected to attend.
The meeting assumes significance amid growing concerns over drug quality monitoring and regulatory compliance in Punjab’s pharmaceutical sector.
