Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old man was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of trafficking 6,696.4gm of syabu.
High Court Judge Siew How Wai made the order for Julpekal Mohamad after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused on Tuesday.
The court set July 1-2 this year for Julpekal’s defence.

The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952, and punishable under section 39B(2) of the same Act, provides either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes, on conviction.
The prosecution had called six witnesses during the hearing.
Julpekal was further remanded pending disposal of his case as the charge against him has no provision for bail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Afiq Agoes conducted the prosecution while counsel Dominic Chew defended Julpekal.
Meanwhile, a 56-year-old man was given a discharge not amounting an acquittal (DNAA) from a charge of causing injury to his daughter.
Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali gave DNAA to Jackson Koh Kok Fah after being informed by the prosecution that there was an instruction to discontinue the case.
Koh was accused of causing hurt to his 22-year-old daughter at 2pm on Aug 5, 2023 at a house in Kg Tunoh, Penampang.
According to counsel Sylvester Kwan who defended Koh, in the previous proceedings the alleged victim had testified in court and wished to withdraw the police report against her father.
But in Tuesday’s proceedings, supposed for trial, Sylvester said the alleged victim wrote a letter that she did want to continue the case.
