Putra Heights tragedy report expected to be released as early as October

THE Selangor government is ready to make the Putra Heights report public if there is no decision from the Federal Government by the last quarter of this year.

Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, said they are now only waiting for the Cabinet's decision on permission for the report to be made public.

"We are ready at any time and are only waiting for the Cabinet's decision on whether to allow the report to be made public. For us, there is no problem with it, but it is related to several government agencies and government-owned subsidiaries," he said.

Amirudin said that the state government will wait until the last quarter of this year before discussing with legal advisors on further action if there is no decision from the Federal Government.

"If there is no decision by the end of the year or the last quarter, we will discuss with legal advisors on the possibility of the report being made public based on the state government's authority. I think the (Putra Heights) report has also been sent to the Federal Government for a long time," he said.

It was earlier reported that the state government was ready to disclose the full report of the incident after receiving it from the Federal Government.

The investigation review report obtained from the Independent Committee, including the opposition and experts, and various security agencies, was submitted last April.

However, the process of disclosing the full report of the gas pipe explosion incident in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya to the public is facing constraints following legal actions filed by residents.

This situation has caused the process of reviewing and coordinating the report documents to be disrupted at a certain stage. – August 17, 2026
