Putra not joining Perikatan anytime soon: sec-gen

JOHOR BARU – Malay-based party Putra has rubbished rumours that it will be joining Perikatan Nasional (PN).

In a press statement today, Putra secretary-general Rosdi Idris said that recent reports by Utusan Malaysia citing party sources were false and did not reflect decisions made by the party.

He also insisted that Putra had no plans to join PN to create the nation’s largest Malay political coalition.

Rosdi also suggested that rumours surrounding the change of Putra’s name to “GTA” were also untrue, given the topic was not discussed by the party’s supreme council.

“The participation of Putra in the PN coalition to create the largest group of Malay parties in Malaysia is not in our contemplation for now.

“This, along with the matter of Putra changing its name to GTA was also not discussed by the supreme council.

“This is also in line with our announcement on March 3 that important decisions will only be concluded after Putra’s general assembly on May 7, 2023,” Rosdi added. – The Vibes, March 15, 2023
