KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Public Works Department (PWD) has reminded all political parties to avoid placing campaign materials in locations that may obstruct motorists ahead of the 17th State Election.

In a statement on Monday, Sabah Public Works Director Datuk Philemon Lajawai said campaign flags, posters and banners should not be installed at roundabouts, road medians, junctions, pedestrian crossings and traffic light poles.

He said materials placed in these areas could interfere with drivers’ visibility and increase the risk of accidents during the busy campaign period.

The department also urged parties that have already put up campaign items in restricted zones to remove them immediately for public safety.

Philemon thanked all parties for their cooperation and hoped the reminder would help ensure smoother and safer road conditions throughout the election season.
