With such an upbeat, pop-packed line-up at this year’s WATERBOMB SINGAPORE, a romantic, genre-blending sound could pose as the perfect interlude. Enter JUNNY, the Canadian-Korean R&B singer-songwriter set to make his WATERBOMB debut at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. JUNNY (born Kim Hyung-jun) first gained a strong following for his sound — think chill vibes with sudden bursts of pure energy. Perfect for soaking up the sun, and the water, of course!
But before he began performing his own music, JUNNY made his name behind-the-scenes, writing K-pop hits for the likes of IU, NCT Dream and Kai from EXO just to name a few. And following his first full-length album blanc, which was released in 2022, JUNNY spent the last few years on tour in cities all across the world — landing right back in his hometown of Vancouver, where he played a sold-out show at the Harbour Event Centre. (A beautiful full-circle moment for him, as that was where he had spent much of his youth watching concerts.) And come August, he’ll be performing on the iconic WATERBOMB stage in Singapore, where his fans are no doubt ready to welcome him with open arms. We spoke with JUNNY to find out more about what he’s working on right now, his time in Singapore, and what we can expect from his WATERBOMB debut.

Pleasure to e-meet you, Junny. Let’s start by having you share with us what’s the latest updates with you — what have you been working on, new music, plans for the year?
My new full length album has taken over my life these past few months and it’s been a hell of a ride, finishing up everything and finalising the details etc., so I’m excited to come back with this project and show a newer, better, harder, better, faster, stronger version of me! ☺ Stay tuned.
