Qatar has welcomed an announced framework agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important step toward establishing a lasting peace that will promote economic growth both regionally and internationally.
The US and Iran had demonstrated a commitment to resolving differences through negotiations and peaceful means, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said in a statement published by state news agency QNA on Monday.
The deal between Washington and Tehran is set to be signed in Switzerland on Friday, according to mediator Pakistan. It provides for the end of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
The agreement says the crucial Strait of Hormuz shipping route will be reopened following the signing of the deal.
