THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has arrested a casino employee following an internal investigation by the management of the Solaire Resort North over his alleged manipulation of the gaming system, resulting in unwarranted player benefits.
BGen. Randy Glenn Silvio, QCPD director, said on Wednesday that the 33-year-old suspect, a casino pit supervisor, was arrested at a resort in Barangay Pagasa, also in the city.
Silvio said charges of qualified theft were filed against him before the City Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly manipulating the gaming system by assigning unauthorized gaming points to inactive player accounts, as also indicated by the casino management’s internal investigation.
The QCPD said the casino management submitted CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage and surveillance records that allegedly showed the suspect encoding the SRC (Securities Regulation Code) account numbers of diamond-tier patrons and assigning player ratings despite the absence of any actual gaming activity.
Investigators also established that the gaming tables under the suspect's supervision had already been closed when the entries were made, making it impossible for the patrons to have legitimately earned the credited gaming points, the QCPD said.
The QCPD chief said the investigation further revealed that approximately 9,900 gaming points were credited in two hours, potentially allowing recipients to obtain player rewards and privileges without participating in legitimate gaming activities.
According to the complainant, pit supervisors are not authorized to assign player ratings unless actual gaming activity is taking place, Silvio said.
"We encourage businesses and institutions to continue working closely with law enforcement by promptly reporting suspicious activities so that appropriate legal action may be taken," he added.
