Kota Kinabalu: Queen Elizabeth Hospital and St John Ambulance Malaysia Sabah entered into a collaboration to improve healthcare services.

The opportunity materialised during a courtesy visit by St John Ambulance Malaysia Sabah led by its Commander-in-Chief Dato’ Lai See Ming on Queen Elizabeth Hospital Director Dr William Gotulis on Nov 17.

The delegation was welcomed by Dr William who expressed appreciation to Lai, Executive Manager Kevin Peter, State Commander Ng Ming Syoung, Deputy State Commander Dr Gan Kean Siong, State Medical Officer Dr Tioh Beng Siong, State Superintendent (Operation) Sai Jia Sheng and State Staff Ambulance Officer Ismail Yusof.

“Having Lai and Kevin adds significant value to this collaboration. Their leadership in St. John Ambulance Malaysia reflects a deep commitment to community service and emergency care. I am enthusiastic about the potential impact that this collaboration can have on the local community, and their presence further strengthens our collective resolve to enhance emergency medical services in Sabah,” said Dr William.

He emphasized the potential benefits to the local community through the joint effort.

He also committed to supporting training initiatives by facilitating attachments for St John Ambulance Malaysia staff, ensuring they gain valuable experience within the hospital setting.

The collective effort between St. John Ambulance Malaysia, Sabah, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital signifies a new chapter in providing enhanced emergency medical services.

The collaboration is poised to leverage the strengths of both organizations, ultimately ensuring a safer and healthier community.

Additionally, St John Ambulance Malaysia Sabah also welcomed the arrival of brand-new ambulance donated by Axis Real Estate Investment Trust, which serves as a valuable asset for the rescue team, further enhancing St John Ambulance Malaysia Sabah service efficiency.
