Samsung’s latest Galaxy devices are once again powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platforms, with the two companies extending their long-running partnership across smartphones, smartwatches, and even intelligent eyewear.
At Galaxy Unpacked, Qualcomm announced that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, Snapdragon Wear Elite, and Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platforms will power Samsung’s newest lineup. That includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch Ultra2, and Samsung’s upcoming Android XR-powered intelligent eyewear.
The announcement highlights Samsung’s push toward a more connected AI ecosystem, where phones, wearables, and smart glasses work together with shared on-device intelligence. Qualcomm says its Snapdragon platforms provide the processing power and connectivity needed to deliver AI experiences that can adapt to users in real time across multiple devices.
For smartphones, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is built around Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU architecture and is designed to deliver faster performance while improving power efficiency. The platform enables many of the latest Galaxy AI features, including more advanced on-device AI processing, enhanced camera capabilities, improved gaming performance, and smarter connectivity across the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and selected Galaxy Z Flip8 models.
While most of Samsung’s latest flagship devices will use Snapdragon globally, Qualcomm confirmed that the Galaxy Z Flip8 will only feature the Snapdragon platform in selected regions.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s newest smartwatches make use of the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. Originally introduced during Mobile World Congress earlier this year, the chipset focuses on continuous sensor processing, faster performance, and improved connectivity to support more personalized health tracking and context-aware experiences throughout the day. It powers both the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2.

Qualcomm, Samsung, and Google are bringing Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 to a new generation of intelligent eyewear, with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker already unveiling additional designs that will be released later this year. The lightweight smart glasses are expected to deliver contextual AI assistance while maintaining an everyday eyewear form factor.
