Qualcomm and ecosystem partners have announced that the latest Snapdragon X2 series is now inside popular brand devices and has started rolling out globally.
The highlight of this release is about the Snapdragon X2 Elite pushing up to 18-core CPU powered by the upgraded Oryon architecture to provide a near 5GHz boost clock alongside larger cache and memory bandwidth improvements – all resulting in up to 31% better performance at the same power level or up to 43% lower power consumption at equivalent performance levels.
It also comes with an 80 TOPS-capable Hexagon NPU and the latest Adreno X2 GPU, offering a noticeable improvement in graphics power that can open up paths to light gaming.
OEM partners have started to load up their offering with the chip, as ASUS announced the Zenbook A14 with OLED display and ultra-light chassis, while Samsung is reportedly to fit the Galaxy Book 6 Edge with the same silicon too.
Meanwhile, the Snapdragon X2 Plus scales back the CPU cores but maintains the 80 TOPS NPU to keep it in line with Microsoft Copilot+ standards.
Interestingly, reviews of some of these newer X2-powered systems are starting to shift the conversation away from battery life alone. Earlier Snapdragon X laptops were mostly talked about for their efficiency advantages, but newer impressions are increasingly focusing on actual desktop-class productivity performance, stronger GPU capabilities, and much better app compatibility than previous generations of Windows on ARM devices.
