Kota Kinabalu: The wheelchairs which are in poor condition at Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2 (QEH 2) need to be refurbished, said former Kota Kinabalu MP Datuk Hiew King Cheu.
He said the wheelchairs are placed at the entrance and other parts of QEH2 are in poor condition and sometimes in short supply when they are needed by the patients.
Hiew said he received the complaint from a woman wished to be known as Madam Lee.
He conducted an inspection at the hospital and found the complaint to be valid.
“I urge the hospital to replace the broken wheelchairs, and there should be enough units to be used by the patients.
“For the convenience of the patients who are coming in or leaving the hospital, availability of the wheelchairs in good condition is of vital importance,” he said in a statement here, Thursday.
Hiew also reminded that there should be some helping hands at the entrance to assist the patients who need wheelchair service such few security guards at the front entrance can be helpful.
