Quentin Tarantino slams Hollywood as a ‘flavourless sausage factory’

  • Quentin Tarantino has criticised post-Covid Hollywood, labelling the filmmaking industry a "flavourless sausage factory" rife with "miscast performers" and "audience pandering".
  • The director said in an article for Sight and Sound magazine it has become "almost impossible" for him to watch new films without feeling the need to “pick to death”.
  • Despite this, Tarantino said he enjoyed Steven Spielberg's 2021 adaptation of West Side Story and Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, while also praising Netflix's The Rip.
  • Tarantino's remarks follow his previous controversial comments, including calling Paul Dano the "weakest f***ing actor" in There Will Be Blood and saying he didn’t enjoy watching Owen Wilson and Matthew Lillard.
  • Tarantino's next major screen project is The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel to 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, directed by David Fincher.
