
KOTA KINABALU: A local teenager was detained after an attempted armed robbery at a pharmacy along Jalan Gaya on Saturday afternoon.
City police chief ACP Kasim Muda said said the youth entered the premises at about 4.41pm, brandishing a knife and ordering a worker to open the cash register.
The worker, who resisted and tried to grab the weapon, suffered an injury to the right hand during the struggle.
Members of the public at the scene managed to overpower the suspect before handing him over to police officers.
Kasim said the case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for armed robbery causing injury, and expressed appreciation to the public for their quick action.
