Drivers travelling along Woodlands Centre Road in Singapore on Thursday (20 November) were taken aback when a vehicle was seen flashing a racist remark on its rear window.
The message which was on the rear window of a silver Honda Spada was captured on video by another motorist and shared on the Facebook page @SG Road Vigilante.
It shows the car’s rear display screen bearing the words “F*** Chinese” in bold capital letters. The post also included close-up shots of the display and the car’s license plate.
Owner claims device was hacked
The car’s owner, Maman Kassan, told Stomp that the message was not his doing. He explained that the LED screen could be remotely altered via Bluetooth using the “iPixel Color” app, and admitted he had not set a password for the device.
“I didn’t know a password could be set,” he commented on the Facebook thread. “My conscience is clear, but whoever did this is stirring up racial tension.”
Kassan added that he is currently under investigation and will refrain from further comments. Police confirmed that a report has been lodged and inquiries are ongoing.
The incident sparked a wave of responses from netizens, some amused while others outraged.
