KOTA KINABALU: The Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Ministry (Maffi) has launched a six-year plan called RAER to boost the rural economy through farming, fisheries, livestock and entrepreneurship, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan.
Jeffrey, also Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister, said that backed by a RM10 million initial allocation and approved by the State Cabinet, RAER will run from this year to 2030 to transform rural livelihoods and food security.
The programme targets 100,000 individuals or rural households and is projected to generate RM2 billion to RM3 billion in economic value by the end of its term.
It will be implemented through multi-agency and private sector partnerships, anchored by the unifying slogan “Unity is Duty” to drive collective rural development.
RAER will be officially launched on May 1 in Tambunan in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival celebrations.
