POLICE have opened investigation papers under three separate provisions in connection with the attack on Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's son, said Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar
In an official statement released today, he said the provisions were:
- Section 14(D) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792) which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.
- Section 324 of the Penal Code which carries a prison term ofup to 10 years, or fine, or whipping, or any combination of two of these punishments upon conviction.
- Section 352 of the Penal Code which provides for imprisonment of up to three months, or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both upon conviction.
"Police confirm that a report was lodged regarding an incident involving a male child who was physically approached and pricked with an unidentified device by an unknown individual.
"The attack occurred at the entrance of Symphony 2, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya, in front of K-FRY premises on August 13," he said.
Shazeli also said that the victim’s condition is stable and an investigation involving various aspects is being conducted by the Selangor police contingent with assistance from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department.
He said the investigation focuses on multiple angles, including efforts to identify the motive behind the incident and the object used by the suspect.
"Police are yet to identify the suspects and the public is advised not to make any speculations or assumptions that could cause unrest and uncontrolled provocative actions.
