A slope collapse at KM263.6 on the North-South Expressway southbound near Ipoh caused a 15km traffic jam, with cleanup works ongoing amid rain.
IPOH: A slope collapse at Kilometre (KM) 263.6 of the North-South Expressway, heading south from the Menora Tunnel towards Ipoh, caused a 15-kilometre traffic jam this evening.
According to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) in a post on X, the incident, reported at 4.28 pm, initially blocked the left lane and caused a four-kilometre traffic congestion.
However, an update at 6.28 pm indicated that the congestion had extended to 15 kilometres as cleanup operations continued at the site.
“Due to a slope collapse at KM 263.6 southbound from the Tunnel towards Ipoh (North), the left lane is blocked. There is a four-kilometre traffic jam.
“ Cleanup works are still underway. Traffic congestion spans 15km. Please drive carefully in the rain!” the post stated.
LLM also advised highway users to exercise caution when passing through the area, especially during rainy weather.
