RANAU: Football teams or clubs across the State, especially in the Ranau district, are invited to participate in the P.179 Ranau Parliament Cup Football Tournament at Fields A and B of the Ranau Sports Complex on August 9-10.

The second edition of the tournament is organised by Ranau Clasico in collaboration with the Ranau Parliament Office.

The tournament offers prizes of RM20,000 for the champions, RM13,000 for the runners-up and RM6,000 to the two joint winners in third place.

“Those who are interested in participating in this tournament can send in the player registration form along with a participation fee before or on July 10, 2025,” he said.

According to him, each team must comply with the ‘Player Quota’, which means registering players including players aged 50 (four in the field area), 45 (four in the field area), 40 (two in the field area) and goalkeepers over 40 years old.

A total of 32 teams from all over Sabah and one team from Kuala Lumpur are expected to compete in this tournament, which will be officiated by the Ranau Member of Parliament Datuk Jonathan Yasin on Aug 10.

“The main objective is to gather football clubs throughout Sabah with the aim of strengthening ties with football clubs in the state of Sabah in general.

“We also accept the participation of teams from Kuala Lumpur for this second edition. And for that, we are also inviting residents of Ranau and the surrounding area to attend to further enliven the tournament,” he said.
