RANAU: The Ranau District Health Office is now launching the Measles Rubella Supplementary Immunisation Activity (MR-SIA) Programme from Aug 4 to Oct 12 as a proactive measure to curb the spread of measles and rubella among children.

It targets the provision of supplementary immunisation injections to all children aged between 6 months and 59 months, namely those born from Aug 1 2020 to Jan 31 2025.

Ranau District Health Officer, Dr Wong Yoke Kong said the implementation of this programme is important given the increase in measles cases reported in the Ranau previously.

“MR-SIA is one of the important strategies of the Ministry of Health Malaysia to ensure optimal immunisation coverage and prevent any possible outbreaks.

“People can get this additional vaccination in two ways, namely, booking a slot through the MySejahtera application, or coming directly as a walk-in to the nearest Health Clinic.

The Ranau District Health Office also calls for the cooperation of all levels of society including community leaders, kindergarten teachers and caregivers to help spread information and encourage parents to participate in this programme.
