The 16-year-old confirmed he will be leaving Rangers last month.
The Daily Mailreports that Wilson will sign with Villa on January 1.
Villa boss Steven Gerrard knows Wilson well from his time in charge of the Ibrox club.
The two clubs remain miles apart regarding an adequate compensation fee.
FIFA will ultimately have to decide what happens with the Wilson deal as it involves an international cross-border transfer.
