Ranveer Singh ‘banned’ from Bollywood after abrupt withdrawal from film Don 3

  • The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a “non-cooperation directive” against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, representing over 500,000 film industry workers.
  • The directive stems from Singh's abrupt withdrawal from the film Don 3, just three weeks before its scheduled overseas shoot, after significant pre-production expenses had been incurred.
  • Excel Entertainment, the film's producer, is reportedly seeking Rs 450m (£3.49m) in damages from Singh for alleged losses due to his exit.
  • Singh's representatives stated that he considers the matter a contractual dispute and believes FWICE is not the appropriate body to resolve it.
  • Legal experts have criticised FWICE's directive, deeming it “illegal in more ways than one” and an “unlawful restraint of trade”, though the federation remains a respected industry authority.
