
TAWAU: Three boys, aged 12 to 17, were arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl, here, last Thursday.
Tawau District Deputy Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said the suspects were arrested at 5.40pm on Friday (Sept 27).
According to him, the alleged rape happened at 9pm in a garden area near a village.
“The suspects are acquaintances of the victim from the same village...all three do not go to school,” he said.

Champin said the police had obtained a remand order at the Tawau Magistrate’s Court on all the suspects until this Wednesday (Oct 2) for further investigations.
The case is being investigated for sexual offences against children under Section 375B of the Penal Code, Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
