As Malaysia’s Independence Day is round the corner, many Malaysians have been anticipating the annual parade that celebrates our beautiful country. On top of the promotions that stores are offering, Rapid KL has announced that it will be offering a 24-hour operation shift from 30 to 31 August 2024!

Rapid KL to operate for 24 hours from 30 to 31 August

In conjunction with the Independence Day this weekend, Rapid KL has made a historic move by operating up to 24 hours non-stop! For selected railways and bus routes, public transport users will be able to enjoy their services from as early as 6am on August 30, until as late as 11:30pm on August 31!

All MRT, BRT and LRT rails will observe a 24-hour shift while selected bus routes will follow through.

On top of that, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kumpulan Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah shared that an additional 60 free intermediate buses from Putrajaya Sentral MRT station to Putrajaya Square will be available to facilitate the nation’s need, if they would like to participate in the National Day parade.

Adding on to it, all rail services including light rail transit (LRT), mass transit (MRT) and the monorail as well as bus transit (BRT) on the Sunway route will observe the 24-hour service, while selected bus routes will follow the same.

“This historic move is to support the government’s efforts to encourage the public to attend the National Day parade”, he said.

With that said, Rapid KL has announced that over 4,000 front-liner employees will be on shift to ensure a smooth operation. Mohd Azharuddin shared how proud they are for being able to pull this off as they’ve always been striving to be better, providing quality services to the nation.

“Assistance from the Putrajaya Corporation and the Royal Malaysian Police will ensure that the special bus routes will not be disrupted while Infrastructure Assistance Police members will help with the smoothness of traffic”, he mentioned.

So, to those who are looking to attend the National Day Parade, you are encouraged to take the public transport as most rail stations provide parking with some accommodating up to 10,000 cars!
