A Rapido bike rider and his passenger were killed after a truck allegedly hit their two-wheeler in the Sector 95 area of Gurugram. An FIR has been registered against the unidentified truck driver at Kherki Daula police station.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as Rohit Kumar Gupta (29), a resident of Lucknow, and Jaipal (24), a native of Auraiya. Rohit lived as a tenant in Shanti Vihar, Sector 95, and worked at a private company in Delhi.
Police said Rohit had booked a Rapido bike on Tuesday morning to travel to his office in Delhi. He was travelling from Sector 95 to Delhi with bike rider Jaipal when, after crossing Sati Chowk, a truck coming from behind allegedly hit the bike.
Both men sustained serious injuries and fell onto the road. Passersby rushed them to a private hospital in Sector 90, where Rohit and later Jaipal succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Rohit’s father, Vinod Kumar Gupta, arrived in Gurugram from Lucknow on Tuesday and lodged a complaint with the police, alleging negligence on the part of the truck driver.
After post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to the families.
“An FIR has been registered against the unidentified truck driver. We are examining CCTV footage to identify the vehicle,” said probationary Sub-Inspector Ranjeet Singh, the investigating officer.
