Kota Kinabalu: A 50-year-old man, charged with four counts of raping a babysitter, will go to trial on Feb 8-9, next year.
Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz set the date for the man when his case came up for mention Monday.
The man, on the first to fourth counts, was accused of raping the 14-year-old girl at 12 noon on May 8, 2021, at 4.30pm on early July 2021, at night in July 2021, and in the morning early August the same year in a house in Penampang.
Each offence, under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of between five and 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Lim Sze Chuen prosecuted while the accused was not represented.
The accused was ordered to be further remanded as he failed to furnish the bail offered to him by the court.
