Ineos owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has added Sir Dave Brailsford to his Manchester United bid team.

Brailsford, the guru behind British Cycling's success in recent years, has been tasked with building a team capable of transforming United, reports The Times.

And Ineos' director of sport has already set about trying to recruit the best in sports science, analysis, recruitment and even training ground infrastructure.

Ratcliffe seemingly wants no stone left unturned and he will hope such meticulous preparation convinces the Raine Group to sell to him.

The investment banking group is in charge of overseeing the sale process and the interested parties met with Red Devils chiefs this week.

Ratcliffe reportedly remains confident of completing a takeover despite interest from a Qatari party and Elliott management.

Brailsford's influence could be key as he has a successful track record working in sport and alongside Ratcliffe.

The two partnered up in 2019 following Ineos' takeover of cycling Team Sky, which Brailsford has headed as general manager since its inception in 2010.

Brailsford, 59, also has experience working in football after being appointed sporting director at Ligue Une side Nice in December 2021, another club owned by Ineos.
