Manchester United staff have been told about an impending hire within the football department.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stated that he is confident that Newcastle supremo Dan Ashworth will soon become the club's new sporting director.

Per The Athletic, Ratcliffe held a meeting on Wednesday at United's facilities for the whole staff.

He talked about Ashworth being a part of the new look setup, which includes Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox.

Omar Berrada will start as chief executive on July 13, while Wilcox is already in the job.

However, securing Ashworth from Newcastle has proved tricky so far, as he has a year's gardening leave in his contract.
