Manchester United investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe is delighted about how the process has unfolded.
Ratcliffe claims that his proposed 25% purchase of the club is the most exciting deal he has ever done.
The British billionaire was in attendance as United drew 2-2 against Tottenham in the Premier League.
Asked if the deal was the most exciting of his life, Ratcliffe replied to reporters: "Correct. Yes."
He said: "I have done a few exciting things, but this caps it all. There's no question about that. I am very excited to be here."
He added: "I have met Erik but it would be inappropriate until it is all formalized. We hope they don't find anything dodgy in our CV."
