Manchester United bidder and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has suffered a financial blow.

Ratcliffe, who has a controlling stake in petrochemicals company INEOS, wants to buy the club from the Glazer family.

He is vying with Sheikh Jassim of the Qatari royal family for control, but neither bid has been accepted.

Reports from Bloomberg state that two of Sir Jim's firms - INEOS Group and INEOS Quattro - had net losses in the second quarter of 2023.

Those companies have not experienced losses since the second quarter of 2020.

Whether these financial figures have any impact on his bid for United remains to be seen.
