Kota Kinabalu: Renowned Malaysian mountaineer Ravichandran Tharumalingam reached the top of K2, the second highest mountain in the world at 8,611 metres in Pakistan at 10.50am on Friday, Daily Express learnt.

He is shown here with the Jalur Gemilang on K2, also known as Savage Mountain as it is harder to climb than Mount Everest. At least 80 people have died trying to climb K2 since 1954. Summiting with Ravi on K2 were five Nepalese Sherpas comprising Mingtemba, Pasang, Fura Tshering, Ngima Tashi, Mingma Tenjen.

There were also three females from various nations – He Jing from China who had climbed Everest and Lhotse in the spring of 2022 and now conquered K2 all without oxygen, Iranian Afsane Hesamifard, Poland’s Monikia Witkowska, Oman’s Nadhira Alharthy @alharthynoor and Russian Vladimir Kotlyar.
