At 6:17am this morning, while the day was still quiet and the sky had just begun to brighten, I received a message from a business partner who is also a sahabat — a good friend. Early morning messages are usually about work matters, so I opened it with curiosity.

Instead, the message was simple and direct:

“Morning, meet me at the Seksyen 13 office. Is that okay?"

I managed to visit him before lunchtime on the same day. During our conversation, he warmly invited me to join a gathering next week at Selera Senibong Seafood (SSS) in Permas Jaya, Johor Bahru.

Sometimes, the simplest invitations carry the most meaning.

Selera Senibong Seafood is well known among locals and visitors. Located right by the sea, the restaurant offers a beautiful view across the water, where you can even see Singapore in the distance. The sea breeze, the open view, and the relaxing atmosphere make it a perfect place for people to gather and enjoy a meal together.

Next week, we will be meeting there not just for dinner, but to buka puasa together during the Ramadan season. Ramadan is a meaningful time, and gatherings like this often bring people closer. Sharing food after a long day of fasting carries a special sense of appreciation and togetherness.

Of course, the food will be something to look forward to. Kampung Senibong is famous for its fresh seafood. The table will likely be filled with delicious dishes — fresh fish, prawns, crabs, sotong, and many other seafood favorites. Good food always brings people together, and seafood dinners like this often turn into lively moments filled with laughter and conversation.

Interestingly, I may be the only non-Muslim attending the gathering. Before the dinner starts, my friend politely asked me,

“Paul, you have no issue with this, right?”

I smiled and told him,

“No issue at all.”

In Malaysia, moments like this are something special. People from different races and religions sitting at the same table, sharing food and stories — this is the true spirit of our multicultural country. 🇲🇾

For me, joining a buka puasa gathering is not just about the meal. It is about friendship, respect, and understanding one another’s culture.

Gatherings like this also create opportunities to meet new people. Some may be friends of friends, while others may become new business partners or connections. Conversations often begin casually — about work, life, and experiences. Sometimes, from these simple conversations, new friendships are formed and future opportunities slowly grow.

In the business world, relationships are important. Many good partnerships begin not in formal meeting rooms, but around a dining table where people feel comfortable and open. When people share food together, it becomes easier to build trust and genuine connections.

That is why invitations like this always feel meaningful.

It starts with a simple message early in the morning.

A friendly invitation to gather.

A dinner by the sea with good company.

Nothing complicated, yet full of possibilities.

At the end of the evening, after enjoying the seafood feast and good conversations, someone will probably say what Malaysians often say at gatherings:

“Come, let’s take a group photo.”

Everyone gathers, smiles at the camera, and captures the moment.

A simple photo, but a meaningful one — a reminder of friendship, respect, and a night spent together.

Parking is RM2 per entry.

Thank you so much for the invitation, bang!

Sometimes, the best opportunities in life begin with the simplest invitation. 🌙✨ Wishing everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026. Maaf Zahir & Batin.
