Rayer continues to head PHEB, says Penang CM

PENANG has decided to retain a majority of the commissioners currently helming the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB).

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow revealed through a social media posting that the state has decided to retain Jelutong MP RSN Rayer as chairman.

Among others retained were Senator Dr A. Lingeshwaran, Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, Began Luar assemblyman Calvin Kumaran, and Penang MIC chairman Datuk J. Dhinagaran.

Chow also announced that state executive councilor Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo will be the state liaison with the PHEB and help to oversee financial matters.

PHEB is by constitution, obliged to oversee the administration of temples and Hindu shrines in the state.

It has also extended its scope of duties by ensuring the welfare and educational of needy Hindus.

Rayer when contacted, said that he will be announcing a range of issues which he will address in his second term as the PHEB chairman.

"I will do it during my first meeting with the PHEB soon. We hope to make the board better," said Rayer. - August 1, 2025.
