JELUTONG MP RSN Rayer has distanced himself from a poster promoting a gathering dubbed “Perhimpunan Merah Maha Kali”, which has been making the rounds on social media and messaging platforms.
Rayer said the poster carried his name, photograph and position, despite him having no involvement in the event.
He said he had neither produced nor approved the material, and had not given permission for his identity to be used to promote the gathering.
“I strongly deny any involvement in the production, publication or distribution of the poster,” he said in a statement.
Rayer said the unauthorised use of his name and image could mislead the public and create the wrong impression about his position on the matter.
He stressed that, as a DAP MP, he was elected to serve constituents and Malaysians regardless of race, religion or background.
On issues involving places of worship and religion, Rayer said disagreements should be dealt with through the proper legal channels.
“Any dispute should be resolved through lawful and legitimate processes, rather than actions that could cause misunderstanding, tension or division in our society,” he said.
Rayer called on those behind the poster to stop circulating it and remove it from social media platforms.
He also urged the public not to share the material and to check with official sources before believing or reposting content carrying his name or photograph.
“Malaysia belongs to all of us, and every issue must be handled rationally, properly and with respect for one another.
“We must be alert to those who may use any opportunity to divide us. Unity is our strength,” he said. - August 24, 2026
