TAWAU: Kg Jawa Sentosa has been officially gazetted as a village six months after a fire destroyed almost half of the 30 houses.
Kukusan Assemblywoman Rina Jainal said, the government has given its blessing to allow the area to be made a settlement considering that the village has existed for decades.
“Currently we are still waiting for the allocation of lots from the Land and Survey Department (JTU) to the residents involved. That is what the JTU is currently fine-tuning,” she said.
According to her, the status of the fire site is a reserve land given to the Federal Government, however, the State Government gave its approval to gazette the area as Kg Jawa Sentosa since there is no development on the site.
