Razer’s New Huntsman V3 Tenkeyless 8KHz Keyboard Gives You Analog Switches At A Cheaper Price

Razer has a new addition to its Huntsman keyboard lineup: the Huntsman V3 Tenkeyless (TKL) 8KHz is a slightly cut-down variant of the existing Huntsman V3 Pro TKL (and its 8KHz counterpart), with some minor differences between the two. You still get the same analog switches, though the price barrier of entry has been lowered by a bit.

Like the Pro variant, the Huntsman V3 TKL 8KHz is equipped with Razer Analog Optical Switches Gen-2 with 40g actuation force, which uses light-based actuation across its 0.1-4.0mm switch travel range; its lifespan is also rated for 100 million actuations. The switches are lubricated, along with internal foam dampening to improve typing feel and tune its sound signature.

Effectively, the optical-based switch design removes physical contact and debounce delay to provide more consistent input detection, with the added benefit of sidestepping magnetic interference altogether, which is a problem with Hall Effect-based (or TMR-based) switches. As such, the analog switches supports Rapid Trigger and adjustable actuation settings, along with 8000Hz polling rate to cut down input latency as much as possible.

Users can adjust actuation points, Rapid Trigger sensitivity, and Snap Tap settings directly from the keyboard without additional software. That said, using Razer Synapse – or even the new web-based Razer Synapse Web – will make your life easier given the level of complexity involved when configuring said settings using only onboard controls. The differences between this model and the Pro comes down to two things: the lack of a dedicated wrist rest, plus the omission of dedicated rotary dial for media controls.

The Razer Huntsman V3 Tenkeyless 8KHz is available now through Razer.com, RazerStores, and selected retailers at a recommended retail price of RM799, which is a fair bit lower than the RM1,099 we have seen from the Pro model when the difference literally comes down to a wrist rest and a rotary dial. (The Pro didn’t even come with wireless connectivity either, so you don’t lose a whole lot by saving RM300 here.)

Pokdepinion: Now the Pro almost doesn’t made sense pricing-wise.
