RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has rejected an approach from Chelsea.
The Hungary international is currently in talks with Liverpool about a move to England, with Newcastle United also keen.
TMW says Chelsea attempted to enter the battle on Thursday after agreeing to the 55m sale of Mason Mount to Manchester United.
However, they received short shrift from Szoboszlai's camp, with the player prioritising a move to Liverpool.
Indeed, agents for the Hungary international spent the day on Merseyside yesterday in talks with Liverpool officials.
Szoboszlai's contract with Leipzig carries a 70m buyout clause, which expires at midnight tonight.
