Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini was happy with Joaquin's cameo for the win against Rayo Vallecano.
The veteran entered the pitch in the second-half, with Pellegrini seeking to close out the game on Monday night.
After the 3-1 win, Pellegrini said: "We needed Joaqun because we needed control of the ball. When he has time and space, Joaqun is like that.
We are going to try to continue adding points knowing how important a match against Sevilla is for Betis fans.
"The derby is going to be a derby regardless of what happens in the middle of the week."
