Real Betis president Angel Haro has confirmed they're closing a deal for Sokratis.
The former Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund defender is a free agent and in advanced talks to sign for Betis.
Haro said, We are aware that there is a lacking. We are negotiating the arrival of a central defender, negotiations have intensified a lot in the last few hours.
"I trust that they will materialise shortly. The market for free players is what it is. We have a first option that is what we want to achieve.
We have to see how this player acclimatises and we will see in January what to do. We have passed the salary limit, we have endorsements in the League and perhaps we have to put in more."
