Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits he took a risk playing Toni Kroos after their Champions League win against Chelsea.

Real won the quarterfinal first-leg 2-0, with Asensio on the scoresheet.

On Kroos, Ancelotti explained, "I always look for the best for the team. There are games where we can create chances with three strikers and I think that Kroos helps a lot as a playmaker spreading the ball out wide and keeping possession. You might suffer more defensively, but if there is a collective commitment you don't suffer.

"It worked out well.

"I have a lot of energy. The team looked very good and I'm very happy. I'm very pleased, but we have to be calm and collected because there are 90 minutes left to play and anything can happen in football. We have to manage our lead there and try to repeat the game we played today."
