Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti says Luka Modric knows he will have a reduced role if he stays next season.
The veteran, off contract this summer, has stated he wants to cotinue with Real next term.
Ancelotti said: ""Everyone has the right to choose their moment.
"Luka has had a fantastic season. It has been difficult for him to understand playing less, but I already spoke to him about it when Casemiro was still there.
"After the final in Paris, at the beginning of the season, I spoke with Luka, Casemiro and Kroos and I told them that they would have to lower their prominence.
"Just as I asked and ask for patience with the young people."
