Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was happy with their Champions League win against Liverpool.

Karim Benzema netted the only goal of the game in the 78th minute to send his team through to the Champions League quarterfinals. A

Real Madrid had gone into the game against Liverpool all but through.

They had won 5-2 at Anfield in the first leg, with braces from Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema as well as a goal from Eder Militao giving them a strong advantage.

And Ancelotti has now praised his side, insisting their psychological state of mind meant they were 'cheating' during the battle.

I liked the team," the Italian told Movistar.

On a psychological level it is cheating. We had a three-goal lead and we haven't slowed down on the accelerator.

I think we played and managed it well. We didn't defend with a low block and we tried to handle the ball well.

We had opportunities and we were solid at the back. It's the match we wanted."

At full time, the Bernabeu blared 'You'll never walk alone' in tribute to Liverpool.

Addressing that gesture, Ancelotti said: I didn't know, but it's very good.

Liverpool is a gentlemen's club, they reminded us of Amancio in the first leg. It has been a very nice gesture with them."

One team Real could face in the last eight is Real Madrid, who Ancelotti previously won the Champions League with.

He doesn't want to face them now, however, saying: "I want Milan in the final, not in the quarter-finals."
