Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has shrugged off Manchester City being named Club of the Year at the Ballon d'Or awards.

Real finished last season European and LaLiga champions, but were rated only third in the Ballon d'Or awards behind City and Liverpool.

Ancelotti said today: "I don't know the criteria well, because they don't talk about the team. The best team was Real Madrid and they had the prize, which was the Champions League. Then the club... I don't know the criteria.

"Talking about this seems to me to be disrespectful to a club that did well last year, it cost us a lot to beat them, we did it for small details, and they won the Champions League. So all the respect for this award that does not change anything for us. The most important award we received in May."

Ancelotti was asked if PSG striker Kylian Mbappe could yet move to Madrid.

He said, "What is the future, I do not know. On a personal level, I don't know what can happen. I said it last year: the future of this club and this team is already written with young players like Vinicius, Rodrygo, Tchouameni, Camavinga, Valverde, Militao... who have already written the future of this team. The players change, next year's squad won't be this year's squad, but these players have already shown what the future of Real Madrid will be."
