Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos insists Gavi deserved red on Sunday.
During Real's 2-1 defeat at Barcelona, Ceballos was bundled over by Gavi after a collision off the ball.
He recalled: "It is a very fast play. If I were to stay on the ground, (ref) De Burgos would have gone to see it and it was red. I am in favour of the fact that you cannot use VAR for everything, but that action is red.
"We all make mistakes and we have to reverse the situation, that we are not going through the best moment."
On now joining Gavi in the Spain squad, Ceballos also said: "Yes. We do not have problems. We are very competitive and we give everything for our team. When the game is over, everything has to stay on the field. We are in the National Team and we have to give everything."
