Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos admits he had a challenging relationship with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.
The most striking moment happened after Guardiola decided to substitute him in the second half of a match against Stuttgart, a decision with which Kroos did not agree at all and protested by throwing his gloves to the ground.
The consequences were not long in coming: the player started the next two games from the bench, to which Matthias Sammer, then Bayern's sporting director, asked Kroos to seek a conversation with Guardiola.
“It's what I did. We had a good conversation and we were able to solve the problem in five minutes," recalled Kroos on his podcast. “I did not agree with the substitution, period. It was probably important to him that I pursue the conversation with him myself."
As for his relationship with Bayern, he added: "Just because I don't go on vacation with certain people doesn't mean I've separated from the club in a dispute."
