Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has taken aim at Bayern Munich's honorary president Uli Hoeness.
Hoeness mocked Kroos' game after Germany's Euros campaign last summer, stating his style of play was "outdated".
In response, Kroos said this week: "It definitely didn't motivate me.
"Maybe it did bother me a bit at first, just because I expected a little more thought from him. Also taking into account the simple facts."
Asked about his international retirement, Kroos added, "The decision I made at that time stands."
