Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos admits Casemiro's move to Manchester United was unexpected.
Kroos says he was surprised by his long time teammate's decision.
He said, "I was surprised by this decision. He wanted to try something new. He is 30 years old, and he knows that in two or three years he will no longer have such an opportunity.
"Now he is at a very good age for a new step. There were more and more reports of this in the media.
"At first I did not expect this at all and thought it was just a rumour. The departure of Casemiro came as a surprise to me. The Europa League instead of the Champions League is a big difference."
