- Low-carb ice cream maker Rebel Creamery has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States, listing between $10m and $50m in debts.
- The Utah-based company's filing comes less than a month after losing a trademark lawsuit to rival brand Van Leeuwen.
- Rebel was ordered to pay nearly $23.8m in profits after a judge ruled it intentionally copied Van Leeuwen's pastel, minimalist packaging.
- The judge enjoined Rebel from selling products with the infringing packaging and ordered the brand to undergo a product redesign.
- Two days before filing for bankruptcy, Rebel submitted an appeal against the court's trademark infringement ruling.
